Pump Up the Music, Bring Out the Bubbles!

By: Taylor Lier

Let’s face it: There’s two things everyone loves doing… listening to music and dancing.. But have you ever imagined incorporating bubbles into the mix? Mike Weider, a DJ of Twin Rivers is doing just that bringing joy and excitement to children and families of all ages.

A DJ for over 37 years, Mike has performed thousands of events on the go with his mobile DJ business like graduations, outdoor birthday parties, anniversaries and more. Besides showcasing his skills on the turntable, Mike loves being a part of his customer’s special moments.

“The one thing that has kept me going is the enjoyment I get from being a part of someone’s special day and seeing their smiles,” Mike said.

Three years ago, Mike decided to expand his DJ business, Ultimate Sounds Entertainment, and added a division called NJ Bubble Parties. These exciting events specialized in kid-friendly music and thousands of bubbles in a one to two hour show for preschoolers and young children, typically an untapped market in the DJ industry.

During the recent Coronavirus pandemic, Mike knew he had to do something to bring that joy and those smiles back to children during the stay-at-home order. With social distancing strictly enforced, children are unable to be around their friends and enjoy typical activities that shape their childhood.

“When this pandemic started, it seemed like people lost their smiles so I thought about things i can do to bring those smiles back,” Mike said. “Nothing makes people of all age smile quite like bubbles.”

Mike cleaned out the back of his SUV now known as the Bubble Mobile and installed bubble machines and his DJ equipment. He then started driving around the East Windsor and Monroe residential areas blasting music and bubbles for families to come outside and join in on the fun. From here, social distancing bubble parties were born. Mike started receiving requests from several members of neighboring communities to come by during drive up birthday parades, anniversaries and more.  Mike’s current mobile bubble event is 15 minutes long with upbeat music and an opportunity for children and families to enjoy time outside and unique bubbles.

“My bubble parties can be done practically anywhere that has a safe spot to park and where social distancing can be practiced like in front of a house, on your lawn, or in a cul-de-sac for some examples,” Mike said.

In a time where happiness and fun seem too far and in between, Mike’s mobile DJ bubble parties allow the community to experience joy again.

“This super fun mini bubble party is great for any occasion and most important fact of it all…it makes people smile,” Mike said.
